Standing In Solidarity With Black Lives Matter Activists

Dear YNPN-ers,

YNPN-NYC stands in solidarity with Black activists and organizers across New York City and the entire country in response to the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Nina Pop, Tony McDade, Rayshard Brooks and many others, visible and invisible, who are the victims of systemic racial and police violence. The past few weeks have seen protests, demonstrations, and mobilization calling on people to recognize that Black Lives Matter and demanding transformative change to a system that oppresses Black Americans.

We know that our community of nonprofit and social change professional have not been immune to the grief, trauma, and pain that surfaces from knowing that these cases of violence and injustice are part of a larger, long-lasting, and deep-rooted experience that has too often been a familiar part of the lives of Black Americans. As allies who stand in support of the Black Lives Matter Movement, we will follow the lead of local and national Black-led organizations who are involved in vital work to push for urgently needed reforms.

We will do so through our mission, events, and resources by utilizing our platform to uplift the messages of Black-lead organizations and share resources that serve to support our Black peers and the work required to end racial injustice and white supremacy.

In this message, you will find several resources and tools we hope you find useful for helping you engage and uplift the Black Lives Matter mission personally and professionally to help address the institutions and issues who remain culpable to maintaining the existing inequities.  This is just the start of a much longer conversation and much needed change we must achieve.

We welcome you to reach out to us to share additional resources, talk about ways you would like to see our organization get involved, or bring your own experiences and expertise to support our wider network. Standing together, we will fight back against racism, injustice, and violence and transform our city and country to one that is just.

In Solidarity,

YNPN-NYC
