If you love books, kids, and donations you should really sign up to volunteer at the Children’s Book and Clothing Swap that the Office of Reycling Outreach and Education in GrowNYC will be having on Sunday, November 6th. The swap will be held from 2pm-4pm in the Brooklyn Children’s Museum and volunteers will be helping collect, sort, and display the children’s items that New Yorkers will be donating, swapping, and receiving at this event. BENJAMIN HALE is the author of the debut novel, The Evolution of Bruno Littlemore, just praised by Sunday’s New York Times Book Review. According to Jonathan Ames, Benjamin is “the most talented and intriguing young writer I’ve met in years.” His novel is a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection, and an Indie Bound “Indie Next List” choice.

DANIELLE EVANS is the author of Before You Suffocate Your Own Fool Self, a debut short story collection that received praise from The New York Times, The Washington Post, and New York Magazine, to name a few reviews, and made Alan Cheuse’s NPR list of best winter fiction, along with O Magazine’s list of 2010’s top-ten books. Danielle’s work has been anthologized in The Best American Short Stories 2010 and 2008 and New Stories from the South.

DEB OLIN UNFERTH offers a new twist on the coming-of-age memoir in Revolution: The Year I Fell in Love and Went to Join the War, the story of the year she ran away from college with her boyfriend to join the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. Dave Eggers calls it “a very funny, excoriatingly honest story….” Deb is also the author of the story collection Minor Robberies and the novel Vacation, winner of the 2009 Cabell First Novelist Award and a New York Times Book Review Critics’ Choice.

Volunteer Artist needed to create Book Drive Kit and poster for books solicitation for the Books Across Africa project of the Five Pearls Foundation.

Posters and flyers will be used by host sites to attract book donations from the community. Posters to be prominently placed to educate public on the need for and criteria for donating books. All books and educational supplies go to 80 rural village libraries in The Gambia and the Closefield School in Cape Coast, Ghana.
