SUMMARY: The Social Impact Exchange Intern will play an important role in the Growth Philanthropy Network (GPN –www.growthphilanthropy.org ) and, in particular, the Social Impact Exchange (www.socialimpactexchange.org). This internship provides an opportunity for the right candidate to learn more about nonprofit evaluation methods, funder relations and emerging tools and products that are being used in the development of a nonprofit marketplace.
The Social Impact Exchange is a community of funders, advisors, wealth managers, intermediaries, nonprofits and researchers interested in funding and developing practices for scaling-up social solutions. The Exchange’s purpose is to establish a marketplace ecosystem that consistently enables effective social interventions to achieve scaled impact.
This individual will be primarily responsible for working with the VP and the Nonprofit Analyst to maintain the Social Impact Exchange’s Contribution Center platform and SIF Registry as well as assist in a variety of other projects related to the Social Impact Exchange.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribution Center – Assist with populating the Social Impact Exchange Contribution Center with high-performing, scaling nonprofit organizations. Responsibilities include:
- Assist with the collection of materials from the nonprofits that have been identified to be presented on the Center
- Review materials submitted from organizations
- Ensure the materials are appropriately presented on the site
- Draft summary text on organizations, sectors, subsectors for site
- Edit and update materials as necessary
- Identify high-performing nonprofits
- SIF Registry
- Assist with the collection and review of materials from the intermediaries, funders, and nonprofits that have been identified for the SIF Registry
- Ensure the materials are appropriately presented on the SIF Registry site
- Edit and update materials as necessary
- Other research tasks related to the SIF Registry
- Events & Special Projects
- Assist in planning and preparing for a variety of events and special projects throughout the year including the Annual Conference on Scaling Impact in June, Working Group meetings throughout the year, the Business Plan Competition, and the Symposium on Scaling Social Impact.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Drupal and website editing is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to balance multiple deadlines and complete tasks assigned on short but reasonable notice; problem-solve and prioritize among assignments
- Ability to work independently
- Interested in GPN’s mission, scaling nonprofits and philanthropy.
Compensation and Hours:
Around 20 hours a week during normal business hours. The length of the internship, hours, and days are flexible and can work to fit around class schedules. The internship is unpaid.
